Metal Finishing Company began development of its heat treating facility in August 2012 when the plans were made for an aluminum heat treating plant to be added to Metal Finishing’s Murdock campus. By 2014 the decision to begin expanding into the steel processing was initiated and since late 2014 the Metal Finishing Steel heat Treat has been flourishing. The steel heat treat started out offering commercial processing for steels, stainless steels, tool steels, and titanium. As of 6/22/15 the steel heat treat was accredited to process Boeing product and on 9/10/15 was accredited with NADCAP certification. The plant has several other Prime Aerospace companies in the process of performing or scheduling audits to accredit the steel facility.
The steel processing is capable of:
The plant is capable of cryogenics from -100 F to -240 F limited only by part dimensions. The heat treat can process parts in integral batch, age, and temper that can fit into a 30” X 48” X 30” box. The vacuums have a working zone of 24”- 36” X 36” – 48” X 24” – 36” depending on unit used in processing. Cryogenics is limited to a 24” X 36” X 24 “work zone currently.
Materials being processed currently:
The plant is comprised:
We will soon open a full service lab (projected to open first quarter of 2016). It will provide:
Our future looks bright as we will have continued growth and will be moving towards processing capabilities in induction capabilities, low temperature nitriding, and brazing. We plan on expanding the work zone sizes in cryogenics, aging, annealling, and stress relieving as well. With these processing capabilities Metal Finishing Company is beyond a doubt one of, if not the largest one stop processing house in North America and the world for your NDT, Heat Treat, and Pre & Post Finishing needs.
